Austin, Texas-based modern folk-rock outfit The Georgian Company capture fleeting and poignant moments of life through the cinematic stories celebrated in their songs. With two married couples, a pair of brothers and a couple close friends making up the band, there’s a lot of interpersonal energy channeled into their musical collaboration, and the result is moving.
Since their live debut in early 2008, The Georgian Company has made a name for themselves in Austin’s saturated music scene. They have a unique appeal to both indie-rock and Americana fans, evidenced by notable appearances alongside Robert Earl Keen and Band of Heathens as well as What Made Milwaukee Famous and Monahans. Their first release is Side A (2009, Pants of Fate) and the follow-up, Side B is slated for release on September 28.
The Georgian Company are singer/songwriter George Irwin on acoustic guitar and banjo, Chris Nine on keys and back-up vocals, her husband Phil McJunkins on pedal steel, Topher Hyink on bass and Travis Hyink on electric guitar, Adam Shallenberg on drums and back up vocalists Jenny Kroening and Dixie Riddle Irwin.
